The two Rama 9s

Confusingly, there are two stations called "Rama 9" within ~600m of each other:

  • Phra Ram 9 (MRT Blue Line) — the bigger, older station. 154 listings, median rent ฿23,000.
  • Rama 9 (MRT Blue Line, alt-naming) — same corridor, sometimes listed separately in old datasets. 87 listings in our database, median ฿21,000.

When you see "Rama 9" in a listing, it usually means anywhere within ~800m of these two stations. For rent purposes treat them as one market.

Why Rama 9 specifically

1. MRT connectivity

MRT Blue Line gives direct access to Sukhumvit (interchange at Phetchaburi → ARL or BTS at Asok), the old town (Lumpini, Sam Yan), and the Airport Rail Link at Phetchaburi. You're 12 minutes from Asok by train.

2. Major corporate anchors

Singha Complex, Unilever Thailand HQ, AIA Capital Center, G Tower, Fortune Town, Central Plaza Grand Rama 9 — the corridor has become a genuine commercial centre, not just a residential bedroom community.

3. The Chinese community

Premium (฿30k+ rent)

Belle Grand Rama 9, The Esse At Singha Complex, Aspire Rama 9, Ideo New Rama 9 — newer high-rises with rooftop pools, co-working lounges, premium gyms.

Mid-tier (฿18–28k rent)

Lumpini Place Rama 9, Supalai Veranda Rama 9, Centric Ratchada-Suthisan — solid mid-2010s product, mostly 1BR around 30–40sqm. The renter sweet spot.

Budget (฿13–18k rent)

Older 2010s walk-up condos in the inner sois. Less amenities, but you're still within walking distance of the MRT and the Chinese food scene.

What renters often miss

  • Traffic at street level is bad. Even though MRT access is great, getting in/out of inner sois by car or Grab during rush hour is slow. Stay on the train.
  • Some buildings ban short-term rentals. Important if you have flexible work travel — confirm before signing.
  • The "night market premium." Huai Khwang's 24-hour market is wonderful but adds light/noise in the closest 200m radius. Get a high floor or a different side of the building.
